Carla McGlynn
Music Teacher Springfield Lakes

Hi, I'm Carla! Welcome to The Rainbow Music School!

I have fifteen years of experience teaching music in various settings. I have a Bachelor of Music Majoring in Piano Performance and a Bachelor of Education (Second Class Honours) Majoring in Secondary Music and Minoring in Primary Music.

After graduating from QUT in 2010, I taught classroom music for kindergarten to Grade 10 students at an Ipswich Anglican school where I also directed three choirs, a glee club and a ukulele ensemble. At the same time I taught private piano and singing lessons, Musical Theatre classes as well as Music and Drama for kids age 2.5 to 10 years at The Studio of Performing Arts Springfield. My students called my classroom ‘the rainbow room’ because it was so colourful and fun!

In 2017 I began teaching Keyboard, Guitar, Ukulele, Drums and Singing to schools in Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba. At the same company I soon moved onto mentor, manage and write curriculum, as well as running online lessons for remote and regional schools.

I was born in Sydney and brought up in Brisbane, but am now residing in Ipswich with my little family. I began singing lessons when I was five, piano lessons when I was seven, guitar lessons at eleven and percussion/drums at thirteen. I've been performing in choirs my entire life, including the Imogen Children's Chorale and the National Youth Choir of Australia. In my high school days I also performed with The Queensland Youth Orchestra in the percussion section. In my spare time I like to read, garden and play video games and my favourite colour is all of them!
